HIRIART, Silvia Donoso. Raul Ruiz’s Palomita Blanca, filming adaptation with documentary vocation. Diacrítica [online]. 2012, vol.26, n.3, pp.313-330. ISSN 0807-8967.

We analyze the relationship between film and literature suggesting that this adaptation attains a documentary character that stems from a realistic fiction story. Non-professional main characters that came from diverse places will represent the same contexts that they came from, the script is based on feedback from people on the popular novel and not the novel itself, the choice of a story framed in the period of the Popular Unity’s emergence and the soundtrack are defining features of the tone of this film, with an evident recording intent. We propose that this film is also interesting from the point of view of its composition. In this proposal, Ruiz first experimented with techniques he used in his European films: multiple points of view and dialog decentralization. “Central conflict theory "contained in Poética del cine (2000) here appears already in embryo stage.
