The reality of Portuguese teaching in the Galician Regional Community is difficult to be analysed due to the linguistic, political and cultural reality of this land located north of the Minho River. No other Spanish region, maybe no other region in the world, challenges a situation like Galician’s. Galicia is a place between two worlds, the Hispanic and Lusophone. Besides Galician, its native language, the land where Galician-Portuguese was born has currently another official language, Spanish, due to historical reasons. This paper analyses the current situation of Portuguese teaching in different educational environments, its difficulties and potentials.
