Abstract

GASPAR, Ricardo  and  OSORIO, Paulo. Graded regulation of lexicon in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Diacrítica [online]. 2014, vol.28, n.1, pp.283-317. ISSN 0807-8967.

This paper presents the usage of a methodological tool useful to lexical planning of Spanish as a Foreign Language: the diagram of graded regulation. Through this teaching tool, we want to help the teacher of Spanish as a foreign language to temporally grade vocabulary, from lexical-semantic fields. In this framework, based on two working groups of learners, one at 7th and another at 10th grade, both of A1 level, we worked with several units of the lexical-semantic field the human body, using the test of linguistic performance. We demonstrate model didactic actions of time grading. Student responses, analyzed in light of the diagram, show us, on the one hand, how to make the lexical grading of updated units and; on the other hand, they allow us to reach several conclusions, which we present, referring to the difficulties experienced by Portuguese mother tongue learners studying Spanish as a foreign language. We also show how the linguistic affinities between languages should be framed in the teaching-learning process.
