Abstract

PADILHA, Laura Cavalcante. Luuanda fifty years later: the painful portrait of two young boys. Diacrítica [online]. 2014, vol.28, n.3, pp.17-23. ISSN 0807-8967.

The article proposes a reading of Luuanda taking as crucial motive the poem "Song for Luanda", also by Luandino Vieira, in order to show that although the author remains driven by the same love for the city, he presents, in the poem from 1958 and the tales from 1963, portraits of quite different human characters. The next aim of the article is to focus, in Luuanda, on two young, underprivileged boys, so as to demonstrate the empathy the author expresses for these figures in the tales where both are depicted, respectively: "Vavó Xíxi e seu neto Zeca Santos" and "A estória do ladrão do papagaio".

Keywords : City of Luanda; representation forms; authorial complicities.
