Abstract

MARCOTULIO, Leonardo Lennertz; ASSIS, Dalila Mendes dos Santos de  and  GUEDES, Rafaela de Carvalho. 2nd person de-possessives in the history of Brazilian Portuguese. Diacrítica [online]. 2015, vol.29, n.1, pp.203-231. ISSN 0807-8967.

Beside simple possessive pronouns such as meu, teu, seu and nosso, Brazilian Portuguese also presents possessive periphrastic constructions, the so-called de-possessives, as dele, dela, deles, delas, da gente and de vocês. In this paper, we focus specifically on 2nd person possessive constructions and investigate the possibility of the repertoire of Brazilian Portuguese de-possessives be expanded by the inclusion of a 2nd person singular de-possessive de você. Besides showing that these data can be recorded in the history of PB, we also seek to bring elements that help us to understand the language change responsible for its implementation.

Keywords : de-possessives; 2 SG; de você; linguistic change; Brazilian Portuguese.
