^lpt^aIremos, neste artigo, discutir a proposta poética e política que sustentou a introdução do Romantismo na literatura em Portugal, através de Almeida Garrett, mostrando como os acontecimentos políticos se tornaram parte do imaginário literário da primeira metade do século XIX. Assim, mostraremos de que forma o Romantismo acabou por associar-se ao e fundir-se com o nacionalismo.^len^aIn this article we discuss the poetic and political proposal that gave grounds for the introduction of Romanticism in Portuguese literature, through Almeida Garrett, showing how political events became part of the literary imaginary of the first half of the 19^th century. By doing so, we will show in what way Romanticism became associated and ended up fusing with nationalism.
