Abstract
TROCONIS DE RINCON, Oladis et al. Evaluation/Rehabilitation of structures in marine environments. Historical case: Maracaibo bridge. Corros. Prot. Mater. [online]. 2006, vol.25, n.3, pp.74-91. ISSN 0870-1164.
World-wide there are a great number of concrete structures which are placed in particularly aggressive environments because of the presence of chloride ions, as in the case of bridges, harbours and platforms in the sea, which in a short period of time, after being built, show a clear evidence of corrosion. It is the case of General Rafael Urdaneta Bridge (PGRU), over Maracaibo Lake in Venezuela, which in a short period of time, after its construction, began to show clear signs of early degradation, in all the structure. In this work we try to show the evaluation, diagnosis and rehabilitation of the structure, based on different research activities, in both laboratory and field, which allow to define better rehabilitation techniques and/or corrosion control in order to extend the service life.
