Abstract

FRAGATA, Fernando de L.; SAAD, Maria J.  and  AMORIM, Cristina C.. Performance of Painting Systems Applied on Wet and Dry Surfaces. Corros. Prot. Mater. [online]. 2007, vol.26, n.1, pp.13-26. ISSN 0870-1164.

The development of wet surface tolerant paints has been increased due to the use the water in some surface preparation methods (wet abrasive blasting and ultrahigh-pressure water jetting) and also in regions where a high humidity condition is unsuitable for the application of conventional paints. In this paper, the behavior of three painting systems applied on dry and wet surfaces, prepared by abrasive blasting and ultrahigh-pressure water jetting, are shown. Good application characteristics were obtained for the three painting systems in both surfaces. Respecting anticorrosion protection, it was observed significant differences among the different painting systems, specially when applied on wet surfaces.

Keywords : Paint System; Wet and Dry surfaces; Anticorrosive Behavior; Surface Preparation.
