Abstract
CAMPOS, José; ROCHA, Mª Eugénia and TAVARES, Mário. Controlo de Acácias com Fitocidas nas Dunas do Litoral. Silva Lus. [online]. 2002, vol.10, n.2, pp.201-206. ISSN 0870-6352.
The final result of the invasion of littoral pine stands by alien species, such as Acacia sp., is usually a strong limitation to the development of other species, indigenous or otherwise. To study wattle control performance in that region, two selective and non-residual fitocides (Garlon or Roundup) were applied, in two concentrations (2 and 4%) and in two emulsion vehicles (water and diesel). We hereby present the results after 4 and 15 months of such treatments. The most effective treatment was the application of 4% Garlon in diesel, which permitted the control of all wattles studied. Acacia longifolia is the most susceptible species to all treatments and its control is possible simply through the cutting of the plant's aerial part.
Keywords : wattles; pine stands; triclopyr; glyphosate; mortality.
