ISSN 0870-8231.

This paper stems from an extensive research and elaboration process aimed at trying to organize a training program for family doctors through which mental health issues could be included in routine consultations for pregnancy and the first two years of life, with a minimum «disturbing» effect and a measurable efficacy. We analyze the importance of training in changing attitudes and beliefs of family doctors; second, we evaluate the impact of this training, associated with the application of an instrument (semi-structured interviews) on mothers and young children; and finally we evaluate the impact that the application of the instrument per se has. Results globally demonstrate relevant effects of training on doctors' practices, but those effects do not translate into significantly positive differences in children and mothers.

Palabras clave : Mental health promotion; pregnancy; Results globally demonstrate relevant effects of infancy; family doctors.
