Some theoretical perspectives try to explain the high levels of performance. Contextual, cognitive, and motivational, as well as personality factors seem to describe the way of life of the subjects with high levels of performance, suggesting the complexity and the multidimensionality of human excellence. The present study analyses the academic course trajectories of students with high academic performance in the areas of engineering and computer science. Through the content analysis of the interviews it was possible to identify the common aspects and singularities among participants, and also how such variables combine themselves in the determination development and expression of excellent performance. The results obtained suggest the presence of joint and combined variables of the academic success in their discourses. Among them we point out the abilities of self-regulation and self-control and the involvement and effort spent in the accomplishment of the tasks.
