The main goal of this survey is to analyze the possible relationships between the concepts of social skills and the academic adaptation to the University context. The term “social skills” defines the set of behaviors necessary to the social competence under criteria that are specifically associated to this construct. Academic adaptation involves integration and accommodation of academic experiences concerning to the demands of the university context. This survey also shows an analysis of empirical studies on two subjects and, based on correlations evidenced by them, has concluded that this association may suggest that: (a) a good social skills would corroborate both to the quality of academic experiences and the academic performance, which facilitate the process of adaptation to the University; (b) situations and demands in the University’ life are in fact learning opportunities, not only on an academic viewpoint but also on interpersonal viewpoint, which corroborate to the development of important social skills for the learner, for the present as well as for the future of his professional life.
