Resumen

ALEXANDRE, Joana Dias; MONTEIRO, Lígia; BRANCO, Irina  y  FRANCO, Carla. A prematuridade na perspectiva de mães primíparas e multíparas: Análise do seu estado psicoemocional, autoestima e bonding. Aná. Psicológica [online]. 2016, vol.34, n.3, pp.265-277. ISSN 0870-8231.  https://doi.org/10.14417/ap.1141.

Literature has been showing that prematurity leads mothers to increase their levels of anxiety, depressive feelings and to decrease their self-esteem, when compared to mothers with pre-term babies. Such experience seems to be different if we take into account mothers’ parity although there are no clear evidences on that. This study aims at analyzing in primipara and multipara mothers of premature babies the associations between psycho-emotional state, maternal self-esteem and bonding. Participants were 50 mothers (27 primipara and 23 multipara) with pre-term babies from a public maternity in Lisbon. Results showed that multipara mothers express more Depressive feelings but simultaneously a greater Capacity and overall preparation for the maternity role. Nevertheless their Capacity for providing care (to the baby) is negatively associated with their psycho-emotional state and positively associated with bonding. Negative associations between Anxiety and Acceptance of the baby, and between psycho-emotional state and Bonding do not vary as a function of parity showing that having a pre-term baby can be a challenge for both primipara and multipara mothers.

Palabras clave : Parity; Prematurity; Bonding; Psycho-emotional state; Maternal self-esteem.
