Resumen

SALINAS-QUIROZ, Fernando et al. Atribuições, estilos e práticas no cuidado de crianças em creches mexicanas. Aná. Psicológica [online]. 2017, vol.35, n.2, pp.203-211. ISSN 0870-8231.  https://doi.org/10.14417/ap.1256.

In child care settings, providers’ psychological characteristics are significantly associated with child care quality in terms of their behavior and interactions with children. It appears that teachers matter for quality through a variety of possible paths: experience, education and credentialing, or attitudes. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the correlation between attributions/projections (both, positive and negative) and parenting beliefs and practices in a sample of 34 Professional Secondary Caregivers. Psychological characteristics (attitudes) were assessed with the Maternal Attribution Scale and the Parent Behavior Checklist. Parenting beliefs correlated with negative attributions and parenting practices with positive attributions. The challenge for lawmakers and policy practitioners is to create recruitment and promotion mechanisms that focus not only in education and credentialing, so child care quality is guaranteed.

Palabras clave : Childcare; Attributions of intentionality; Parenting beliefs and practices; Education quality.
