DUQUE, Sara; REIS, Ana Catarina; LENCASTRE, Leonor Queirós e  y  GUERRA, Marina Prista. Satisfação com a vida em pessoas seropositivas ao vírus da SIDA. Aná. Psicológica [online]. 2017, vol.35, n.3, pp.297-308. ISSN 0870-8231.  https://doi.org/10.14417/ap.1183.

The main objective of this study is to analyze some variables related to life satisfaction in VIH/SIDA Infection. We intend to observe associations between socio-demographic characteristics, clinical, and psychological variables as the meaning in life, distress and problem-solving responses (coping) with life satisfaction. This is a descriptive study conducted with a sample of 40 adult patients diagnosed with VIH/SIDA Infection. The instruments used were Questionnaire characterization of the sample, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Meaning in Life Scale, Satisfaction with Life Scale and Brief-Cope. The results suggest that there are no differences in sociodemographic and clinical characteristics in relation to life satisfaction. However, we found the existence of associations between life satisfaction and meaning in life, distress and coping. The model to predict life satisfaction contemplates distress and meaning in life, and explains 33.1% of variance. Psychological intervention with this population should consider these factors facilitating life meaning, positive coping responses and decreasing the distress in order to promote adaptation to disease.

Palabras clave : Life satisfaction; Meaning in life; VIH/SIDA; Distress; Coping.
