Abstract

GOMES, J.F.P. et al. Optimização da Reacção de Síntese de Hidroxiapatite por Precipitação Aquosa. C.Tecn. Mat. [online]. 2007, vol.19, n.3-4, pp.75-82. ISSN 0870-8312.

Hydroxyapatite (HAP) is a bioceramic material widely used in medical applications such as coatings of metallic prosthesis or filling cavities of body hard tissues resulting from traumatisms or diseases. HAP can be produced by different methods, namely hydrothermal, precipitation or sol-gel processes. For this study, HAP was produced by precipitation of solutions Ca(OH)2 (0,5M) and H3PO4 (0,3M), varying the reaction temperature, pH, acid addition flow rate, mixing velocity and inertization medium. The obtained products were dryed and sintered and then characterised by IR, XRD and SEM. The obtained HAP shows a high purity, is thermodynamic and stoichiometrically stable, when produced at a pH ranging from 7 to 9, a reaction temperature of 60 °C in an inert medium. The synthetized HAP nano particles are identical to biological ones, allowing its industrial production for application in bone implants.
