Resumen

GOMES, Lúcia P.. Células solares de silício micro/nanocristalino. C.Tecn. Mat. [online]. 2009, vol.21, n.1-2, pp.27-33. ISSN 0870-8312.

The present work aims to the production and characterization of amorphous (a-Si:H)/microcrystalline silicon based semi-transparent solar cells for windows application. The produced solar cells structure is as follows: glass/TCO/p/i’/i/n/metal. The semiconductor layers p, , i e n were obtained by Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) of 27.12MHz for the intrinsic i layer and 13.56MHz for the remaining layers. The layer is a buffer layer that prevents the diffusion of impurities from the p layer to the intrinsic layer. Gallium doped Zinc oxide was used as the transparent conductor oxide (TCO) due to its chemical stability and natural surface texture. After process optimization, the transparent solar cells were produced and characterized. Patterns/geometries to produce these devices were initially studied on 4x4 cm2 substrates in order to insure at least 50% of transmittance. The techniques used to define the cells patterns were photolithography, chemical and dry etching. Taking into account the results obtained (characterization), process cost and reliability, the geometry for production of semi-transparent solar cells on 10x10 cm2 substrates was defined. At the final stage of this project, a prototype of a window with an incorporated 10x10 cm2 semi-transparent solar cell was produced. The combination of the semi-transparent solar cell with an electrochromic window proved to be the greatest challenge of the whole process.

Palabras clave : semi-transparent solar cells; µc/nc silicon; amorphous silicon; intelligent windows.
