Abstract

DOMINIQUE-FERREIRA, Sérgio. Measuring the satisfaction of health professionals: An application on the Health Centers Group of FeiraArouca. Rev. Port. Sau. Pub. [online]. 2015, vol.33, n.2, pp.188-198. ISSN 0870-9025.

Objectives: Measure the satisfaction of health professionals and identify the elements that do influence the most the overall satisfaction of those professionals. Methods: An ad hoc questionnaire was applied to the professionals of the Health Centers Group of Feira‐Arouca. First, an analysis of the internal consistency, followed by a Factor Analysis (FA) was carried out in order to know the factors or dimensions that the scale measures and the adequacy of the data for the realization of the AF. Then, a linear regression was carried out in order to identify the variables that most influence the professional satisfaction, as well as Spearman correlation. Results: The results show the existence of a scale with acceptable psychometric properties, specifically, with a high internal consistency. In addition, the perception of an appropriate supervisory labor, pride on the image of the Health Centers Group of Feira‐Arouca, cooperation and collaboration between professionals and multidisciplinary work are the elements that influence the most the overall satisfaction of health professionals. Discussion: The average overall satisfaction of the professionals is positive (Mean = 3.37 on a Likert scale). It was possible to identify the elements that contribute significantly to the satisfaction of professionals. So, it would be appropriate to develop and implement strategies to supervise the work of professionals and encourage cooperation among multidisciplinary professionals.
