GOUVEIA, Filipa et al. Baydiversity: Conservation action plan for the management for integrated management of agricultural áreas. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2012, vol.35, n.2, pp.64-72. ISSN 0871-018X.
The Baydiversity project was born on the need of Bayer Cropscience to embrace strategies for Nature and Biodiversity Conservation with the international politics, reinforcing its relationship with selected clients, thereby making these clients able to integrate questions related with Biodiversity Conservation in the management of their agricultural properties. A Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) is a management tool that a) evaluates and monitors natural values with regional or local interest and with conservation status, b) evaluates species important for culture protection and soil conservation, c) defines biological indicators to evaluate and monitor the performance of post-conservation practices and d) evaluates agricultural and its contiguous areas, in order to correctly manage the habitat. The main goal of BAP is to establish a baseline for biodiversity that will allow the definition of management guidelines. During 2011 there were accomplished 14 BAP for clients of Bayer group in the north, center and south of Portugal.
