Abstract
MACHADO, Adriana R.; RODRIGUES, Rosane S.; MACHADO, Mirian R. G. and SOUZA-SOARES, Leonor A.. Influence of the cyanobacteria Spirulina LEB 18 in metabolism of female Wistar rats. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2014, vol.37, n.1, pp.29-36. ISSN 0871-018X.
Aim of the study was to investigate the influence of diets containing Spirulina LEB-18 micrometer and nanometer size in the metabolism of Wistar/UFPel. The rats were divided into four groups (n = 6) and fed for 15 days with diets (20g/ day): Control based on casein (C), Spirulina based Spirulina-micrometer (Sma), Spirulina nanometer (Sna) and aproteic (Aa). To determine the biological indicators of protein used to Net Protein Retention (NPR or RPL) and Food Efficiency Coefficient (CEA). At the end of the experiment the animals were euthanized by decapitation and blood was collected for analysis of blood test and obtained serum (determination of total cholesterol and triglycerides). Therefore diets containing Spirulina strain LEB-18 in micrometer and nanometer sizes were efficient growth, not interfering with the metabolism and presenting answers similar to the control diet containing casein (C).
