Resumen

MEIRA, Messulan R.  y  NOBRE, Danubia A. C.. Evaluation of the quality of barbatimão seeds, of North Minas Gerais state origin. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2014, vol.37, n.1, pp.50-58. ISSN 0871-018X.

The aim this study was to evaluate the potential physical and physiologic of seeds of barbatimão from three origins. The seeds were removed from pods, quantified and separated in to viable and damaged. The seeds were mechanically scarified and had germination compared to intact seeds. The physical potential of seeds of barbatimão was determined from the quantity of seeds, damaged seeds, weight of 100 united of seeds, water content and biometric measurements. the physiological potential was evaluated by germination test, count firs of germination test, speed rate of germination and seedling length. The results showedthat there was a low percentage of damaged seeds and the smaller seeds showed itselves more viable without physical damage to the tegument. The width of the seeds was similar in all three accesses as well as the fresh root that was benefitted by intact tegument and did not differ between accesses. However the scarified tegument showed up to the top intact tegument with only 5.10% of viable seeds affected by fungus. For better results it is suggested further studies with different times of seed storage of the same access.
