Resumen

CIPRIANI, Vânia Beatriz; GARLET, Juliana  y  LIMA, Bruna Martins de. Overcoming dormancy in Chloroleucon acacioides and Senna macranthera seeds. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2019, vol.42, n.1, pp.51-60. ISSN 0871-018X.  https://doi.org/10.19084/RCA18238.

Physical dormancy is one of the main problems for seed germination of most species belonging to the Fabaceae family. The objective of the present work is to evaluate the efficiency of different methods of overcoming dormancy in seeds of Chloroleucon acacioides and Senna macranthera. The seeds were submitted to seven treatments: Control without overcoming (T1), immersion in sulfuric acid 98 % for 15 and 30 minutes (T2 and T3, respectively), immersion in 70% caustic soda by 20 and 40 minutes (T4 and T5, respectively), immersion in hot water for 30 min (T6) and immersion in hot water until cool (T7), then placed to germinate on rolls of Germitest® paper, in germination chambers at 25 ºC and 12-hour photoperiod, with a completely randomized design. The treatments using sulfuric acid stand out in overcoming physical dormancy of the seeds of both species studied. For all variables analyzed, treatment with immersion in sulfuric acid 98% was the most appropriate for C. acacioides seeds and treatments T2 and T3 for S. macranthera.
