Abstract

BARROS, José  and  CALADO, José. Rotation of herbicides in wheat to prevent weed resistance under Mediterranean conditions. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2020, vol.43, n.1, pp.1-31.  Epub Mar 04, 2020. ISSN 0871-018X.  https://doi.org/10.19084/rca.19169.

Herbicide mixtures are widely recommended to prevent weed herbicide resistance. Two field trials were carried out on 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 at the Experimental farms of Passinho (Elvas) and Almocreva (Beja), respectively. The aim of these trials was to study the effect of herbicide mixtures with different sites of action or groups, in the weed control and grain yield of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). In six different applications (treatments) the active ingredients studied were diflufenican, flufenacet and metribuzin applied in crop pre-emergence or early post-emergence and propoxycarbazone-sodium, mesosulfuron-methyl, iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium, bromoxynil octanoate and 2.4-DB - ethylhexyl ester, applied in crop post-emergence. There were no significant differences between the different treatments in relation to the efficacy in the control of the weeds for the two experimental years. In the first year, the treatments also did not reveal significant differences in grain yield per unit of area, but in the second year, the control treatment obtained a significantly less grain yield per unit of area than any of the other treatments.

Keywords : Triticum aestivum L.; pre-emergence herbicides; post-emergence herbicides; efficacy; grain yield per unit of area..
