Abstract

SALGADO-PIRATA, Madalena. Germinative characteristics of tamarillo seeds (Solanum betaceum Cav.) from red and orange fruits. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2020, vol.43, n.3, pp.46-61.  Epub July 31, 2020. ISSN 0871-018X.  https://doi.org/10.19084/rca.20591.

This study appears in the context of the application of germination tests to samples of red and orange tamarillo (Solanum betaceum Cav.) seeds, post-harvest of the ripe fruits, to serve as a comparison term to the viability tests of ex situ seeds conserved. Germination tests were carried out in Petri dishes with two treatments that were distinguished by the total absence of light and a photoperiod of 16 hours of light and 8 hours of darkness, in a total of six repetitions of ten seeds. The results showed the existence of differences in promotion of Solanum betaceum Cav. seeds germination. The germination conditions were decisive, being evident that there is sensitivity to light from the seeds of this plant species.
