Abstract

SILVA, Deyse C. O. da et al. Foliar fertilization on the quality of fruits of pineapple cultivars. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2020, vol.43, n.3, pp.104-126.  Epub Aug 08, 2020. ISSN 0871-018X.  https://doi.org/10.19084/rca.20000.

At the time of purchase, most pineapple consumers point to product quality as a determining factor in the decision. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of foliar fertilization on the quality of the fruits of five pineapple cultivars. The experimental design was in randomized blocks, with four replications, in a split plot scheme. In the plots, five pineapple cultivars were randomized and in the subplots, three leaf fertilizer compositions. Fertilizations were carried out fortnightly, in a localized manner. Fruit harvest started 360 days after planting seedlings in the field. The fruits were taken to the laboratory for analysis of the variables: Mass, length, diameter, firmness and pH of the fruit, soluble solids, titratable acidity, soluble solids and titratable acidity ratio and average juice yield. In general, when fertilized with NK, the cultivar that presented the highest average mass of the fruit was Vitória, however, with no significant difference for the cultivar Fantástico. The NK formula is the best option for use as leaf fertilizer in pineapple cultivation for the conditions and cultivars of this study. All cultivars, regardless of the fertilization formula, have juice levels within the standard of export for industrial purposes.
