Abstract

RAMOS, Caroline; PIZAIA, Marcia; CALDARELLI, Carlos  and  CAMARA, Marcia. Competitiveness and insertion of Brazilian soy in the international market. Rev. de Ciências Agrárias [online]. 2020, vol.43, n.spe1, pp.61-70.  Epub Dec 01, 2020. ISSN 0871-018X.  https://doi.org/10.19084/rca.19022.

The objective of this paper is to analyze the competitiveness and insertion of Brazilian soy in the foreign market, from 2008 to 2016. For this purpose, have been used IVCRS, IOR and CMS. The results the IVCRS revealed that although the United States is the main exporter of the culture, the comparative advantage of Brazil and Argentina is greater today. The CMS allowed us to identify the main sources of growth for Brazilian exports of the soy complex, with competitiveness rates rising from 20.38 to 63.67%, indicating that the high rates of Brazilian exports are responsible for Brazil's competitiveness in the product. The IOR revealed the main destinations for Brazilian exports of the soy complex. For soybeans, the strong trend of exports to China was notable. Soybean meal exports were deconcentrated and soybean oil exports decreased. It can be concluded that soy complex exports increased significantly due to the Brazilian competitiveness, but with the concentration in only one product, soybeans.
