Chronic or recurrent abdominopelvic pain is a complex diagnostic and therapeutic problem in a significant number of cases. Abdominal wall pain represents an important reason of unnecessary expense with exams. Among the different causes abdominal wall neuralgia is extremely frequent, but commonly forgotten as its diagnosis is mainly clinically based. The diagnosis is easily accessible by using Carnett’s test, confirmed, when positive, with its repetition after local anesthetic infiltration. This procedure can also be effective as treatment.
