Abstract

MAIA, Marta. The home support to people infected with HIV in France and in Portugal . Arq Med [online]. 2006, vol.20, n.5-6, pp.183-184. ISSN 2183-2447.

Aids is a disease that exists for more than twenty years. With the arrival of tritherapies, this disease became chronic but still remains a very serious one, that many times is handicapping and its treatments are ‘heavy’ and the secondary effects hardly bearable. Within this context social support is fundamental for the individuals that are infected. The care support at patients’ homes is a very important element for those who live with Aids. The associative mobilization towards Aids is important but not always sufficient in Portugal, as we tried to demonstrate comparing some aspects of state financial help and domiciliary care support between France and Portugal.

Keywords : care support; HIV/Aids; France; Portugal.
