Mycobacteria other than tuberculosis are ubiquitous organisms. it had been identified about 125 potentially pathogenic species. The most common clinical manifestation of infection by these agents is chronic lung disease. The treatment of the disease appears not to be very rewarding, given the symptoms -often mild, and the long time of treatment that infrequently leads to eradication. The aim of this article is to review the main forms of disease caused by mycobacteria other than tuberculosis and their treatment.
