Abstract
PECHORRO, Pedro; VIEIRA, Rui Xavier; POIARES, Carlos and MAROCO, João. Contributions to the validation of a short version of the marlowe-crowne social desirability scale with portuguese adolescents. Arq Med [online]. 2012, vol.26, n.3, pp.103-108. ISSN 2183-2447.
The purpose of the present study was to present some contributions to the validation of a short version of the Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale (MCSDS) constructed by Ballard (1992; MCSDS-SF). With a total of 760 youths of both genders divided in a forensic sample (n = 250) and a community sample (n = 510) we were able to demonstrate some psychometric properties that justify its use with the Portuguese adolescent general and forensic populations, namely in terms of factorial validity, internal consistency, temporal stability, discriminant validity and divergent validity. No statistical significant differences regarding scale scores were found between the male and female groups.
