Abstract

MARTINS, Aracy Alves. TEACHERS’ MEMORIES: LITERACY EVENTS AND PRACTICES. Rev. Port. de Educação [online]. 2005, vol.18, n.2, pp.185-213. ISSN 0871-9187.

This text focuses on the memories as reflective tools as remembered by undergraduate students of Letters and Pedagogy from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil. The texts show meaningful literacy practices both in schools and in other contexts, as well as in these students’ reading and writing classes. The memory texts were used as textual genre which facilitates the understanding of language, reading and writing concepts of the mediators that permeated the memories, making them relate the coexistence of different practices, throughout history and at the present time of their education, pointing to the need of more conscious and clear practices for educating readers in society, assuming the authors as (future) mediators.

Keywords : Literacy events; Reading strategies; Texts production.
