Abstract

SILVA, Rita et al. Airborne allergic contact dermatitis to Isothiazolinones, an importante allergen not only in occupational settings: Two case report. Rev Port Imunoalergologia [online]. 2021, vol.29, n.2, pp.121-125.  Epub June 28, 2021. ISSN 0871-9721.  https://doi.org/10.32932/rpia.2021.07.059.

Allergic contact dermatitis is a frequent reason for referral to Dermatology and Immunoallergology Departments. It is caused by the interaction of low‑molecular‑weight haptens with the skin, which will then induce a delayed‑type IV hypersensitivity in susceptible individuals. The prevalence of this disease is not well established. Hereby we describe two clinical cases of patients who developed an airborne allergic contact dermatitis to a biocide present in many cosmetics and water‑based paints.

Keywords : Airborne; cross‑reaction; isothiazolinone; methylchloroisothiazolinone; methylisothiazolinone; occupational.
