Resumen

FERNANDES, Iolanda C.; MACHADO, Susana; FARRAJOTA, Pedro  y  SELORES, Manuela. Pityriasis lichenoides chronica in a child. Nascer e Crescer [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.3, pp.182-184. ISSN 0872-0754.

Introduction: Pityriasis lichenoides (PL) is an uncommon skin disorder with two major variants: pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta (PLEVA) and pityriasis lichenoides chronic (PLC). Its classification is essentially based on clinical and histological features. Case report: A six-year-old boy was referred to the Pediatric Dermatology Consultation with history of a recurrent generalized skin eruption since the last 6 months, favoring the diagnosis of PLC that was supported by the histological findings. Discussion: In general, the typical cutaneous lesions of PLC are asymptomatic and consist of erythematous papules with a central micaceous scale that can easily be detached to reveal a shiny surface (lichenoid). It usually resolves spontaneously following a long period of remissions and recurrences. The treatment options include topical and oral corticosteroids, oral erythromycin and heliotherapy, among others.

Palabras clave : Childhood; pityriasis lichenoides; pityriasis lichenoides; pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta.
