Resumen

AGUAS, Carla; BENZAQUEN, Júlia  y  VALENCA, Marcos. Seeds and “arupembas”: the relationship between different knowledges in the context of social movements. Sociologia [online]. 2012, vol.24, pp.89-111. ISSN 0872-3419.

Based on the concepts of Sociology of Absences and Emergencies (Santos, 2006), this article analyzes the relationships between dominant and subordinated epistemologies. The text is constructed from the voices of four subjects from brazilian social movements: two members of black communities descended from slaves, called “quilombos”, and two participants of the Movement of Landless Workers (MST). The four testimonials serve as the basis for reflections about the relationship between different types of knowledge, and the appropriation of formal education, as possible paths for the process of social emancipation.

Palabras clave : Social movements; Sociology of Absences; Sociology of Emergencies.
