Mobility and tourism are two central factors of urban transformation in post-recession southern European cities, where the recent touristification is much related to other complementary processes such as transnational and tourist gentrification. In this article, we intend to contribute to the understanding of the intense changes that take place in the center of the city of Lisbon resulting from global dynamics and the state-led touristification and leisurisation of the urban space as a strategy for renewing the city center of Lisbon.
