Abstract

CAMBRAO, Pedrito Carlos Chiposse. Role of Civil Society in favour of Good Governance: the case of Mozambique. Sociologia [online]. 2018, vol.36, pp.71-96. ISSN 0872-3419.

With this essay, we intend to perceive to what extent the Mozambican Civil Society has been important in fight for the Good Governance, in the scope of Participatory Democracy. The role of Civil Society has been shown through various documents such as Agenda 2025 and the Absolut Poverty Relief and Reduction II Plan, as well as in the establishment of participatory mechanisms: Poverty/Development Observatories, African Peer Review Mechanism. However, its commitment and willingness to participate on behalf of the Good Governance, in an effective and sustainable way, are confronted with problems of access to information, with limited technical and conceptual knowledge. Hence, the need of working much more - to be united and to be (in)formed itself -, in order to improve the place where it actually is.

Keywords : Civil Society; Good Governance; Participatory Democracy.
