Performance appraisal can be an extremely useful tool in an organization, as long as the procedures underlying it are perceived fairly. This article discusses the perception of organizational justice in relation to performance appraisal, through a survey application to labor inspectors from Autoridade para as Condições do Trabalho. It seeks to develop a different analytical approach, explaining the results according to the performance appraisal instruments used (final evaluation and performance monitoring).
