The article discusses the solidarity economy in Brazil, conceived as an economic activity of production of goods and/or services, through associative work, collective possession of the means of production and self- management. In Brazil, the solidarities enterprises represent one of the faces of social inequality. The purpose of the article is to present a discussion about these enterprises and the need to build support and policies that promote sustainable conditions based on their singularities, thus expanding the possibilities of social maintenance and reproduction in their contexts, whether in the urban or rural areas.
