This article aims to explore the relationship between the media and the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God in Portugal, based on a case study: the controversial informative series broadcasted by TVI between December 11th and 22nd 2017, entitled “The Secret of the Gods”. For that end, this article analyses the content of this television piece and other news transmitted by TVI, as well as some publications from the national press, such as articles and reports by the periodicals Observador, Expresso, Público, Sábado and Correio da Manhã. Finally, this article will give a brief overview of the UCKG’s stance on this matter by using some material published in its newspaper Folha de Portugal.
