Abstract

SILVA, Ana Mafalda et al. Acute Tubulointerstitial Nephritis and Uveitis (TINU) Syndrome: A Case Report. Medicina Interna [online]. 2016, vol.23, n.4, pp.42-44. ISSN 0872-671X.

Acute interstitial nephritis is a common cause of acute kidney injury induced in most cases by exposure to drugs. It is also caused by autoimmune, infiltrative or infectious disorders. In a small percentage of patients with acute interstitial nephritis (510%) it occurs associated with uveitis, thus defining the acute tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis syndrome (TINU). The authors describe a case of acute interstitial nephritis that in the presence of uveitis associated with the exclusion of other causes lead to the diagnosis of TINU. We report this case by the less expected diagnostic outcome and by the importance of a high index of suspicion.

Keywords : Interstitial Nephritis; Uveitis.
