SILVA, Nadine et al. Emergency Medical Service Vehicle: Data From the Hospital Distrital da Figueira da Foz. Medicina Interna [online]. 2018, vol.25, n.3, pp.193-200. ISSN 0872-671X.  https://doi.org/10.24950/rspmi/original/327/3/2018.

Introduction:Introduction: Pre-hospital emergency care is aimed to provide adequate treatment to the population in occurrences of sudden disease or trauma, on-site stabilization of the patient and, if necessary, ensuring the safe transport to the health unit. Material and Methods: Here, we describe the activity of viatura médica de emergência e reanimação, an emergency medical service vehicle, from the Hospital Distrital da Figueira da Foz, (HDFF) by performing a retrospective analysis of data collected in a period of two years - from January 1st, 2015 to December 31st, 2016. Results: Collected data included average number of occurrences per day and shift, type of activation, delay in response of the pre-hospital emergency team, number of victims and place of each occurrence, characteristics of the victims and number of transportations with and without a doctor to the health unit. For patients transported to HDFF, the presumptive diagnosis made by the pre-hospital emergency team was analyzed. We also looked at the relationship between transportation with a doctor and the priority given in triage by the Manchester triage system. In addition, we assessed the destination of the patient following medical examination, the main characteristics of cardio-respiratory arrests and the activation of stroke and myocardial infarction code performed by the team. Conclusion: There are various conclusions to be taken from this detailed analysis. Perhaps the most relevant is the invaluable role of the team in diminishing the morbimortality of patients with suspected myocardial infarction and stroke, when these codes were activated.
