Abstract

ROSARIO, Francisco Sobral do. Anamnesis Versus Narrative-Based Practices in Understanding the Suffering of the Other. Medicina Interna [online]. 2018, vol.25, n.3, pp.233-236. ISSN 0872-671X.  https://doi.org/10.24950/rspmi/pontodevista/96/3/2018.

In recent years the increasing introduction of technology has changed medical practice, with the risk of less interaction with the patient. In this context, some authors argue that medical education should focus on narrative-based practices as a way to improve the patient´s understanding and increase empathy. The author argues that anamnesis, the basic instrument of medical practice, must include the collection of the life narrative, keeping the patient at the center of clinical activity.
