CUNHA, Vitória y MARQUES DA SILVA, Pedro. Arterial Hypertension in Pregnant Woman. Medicina Interna [online]. 2022, vol.29, n.3, pp.41-51. Epub 15-Nov-2022. ISSN 0872-671X. https://doi.org/10.24950/rspmi.537.
Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy continue to be a cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, not only in pregnancy and peripartum but also in the future life of the mother and baby. It is essential not only to understand the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms, but also to know how to make the diagnosis with the appropriate methodology, assess the woman’s risk, and know the particular therapeutic options. Surveillance takes into account the various types of hypertensive disorders, as the risk of progression to potentially serious and/or fatal conditions can have catastrophic consequences. This article seeks to review arterial hypertension in pregnant woman in all fundamental aspects, for the most appropriate approach from the internist’s point of view.
