The authors present two cases of ischemic colitis, with a striking endoscopic presentation - sub-epithelial haematomas - and unfavourable clinical outcomes. In the first case, the patient was posteriorly diagnosed with severe blood dyscrasia secondary to multiple myeloma with amyloidosis. Despite treatment, this patient died of recurrent ischemic cerebrovascular accidents. In the second patient, who was very elderly and who quickly progressed to a fatal outcome, there was no opportunity to carry out a more detailed study in order to diagnosis a possible subjacent pathology.
