Abstract
GONCALVES, C.; SILVA, F. and COTRIM, I.. Duplicação Duodenal. J Port Gastrenterol. [online]. 2006, vol.13, n.5, pp.220-225. ISSN 0872-8178.
Gastrointestinal duplications are detected in 1 of every 4500 autopsies, with only 5.5-7% of these being of duodenal origin. The clinical picture varies widely and can include occlusion symptoms, acute pancreatitis, obstructive jaundice or gastrointestinal bleeding. In most cases, the diagnosis is made during infancy (80% are detected in the first year of life); detection is uncommon in the adult. We report on a case of a 29-year-old man with complaints of epigastric pain, in whom a diagnosis of duodenal duplication was made. The clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of this condition are discussed.
