Abstract

RAMOS, R. et al. Colonoscopia Virtual: A Propósito De Um Caso De Tumores Síncronos Do Cólon. J Port Gastrenterol. [online]. 2007, vol.14, n.5, pp.233-235. ISSN 0872-8178.

Virtual colonoscopy is an imaging method which permits large bowel visualization through images acquired by computerized tomography. The authors present a clinical case of a 73 years old woman, who was initially observed in the emergency department with complaints of fatigue and weight loss; blood tests showed a microcytic anemia. At optical colonoscopy a malignant stenosis at the sigmoid colon was detected. In order to evaluate the remaining colon a virtual colonoscopy was performed which showed a second tumour at the hepatic flexure. Atotal colectomy was performed with no surgical complications.
