Abstract
NOBRE, S. R.; SILVA, T. and CABRAL, J. E. Pina. Gastrenterite eosinofílica. J Port Gastrenterol. [online]. 2009, vol.16, n.1, pp.13-18. ISSN 0872-8178.
Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is a rare disorder, characterized by eosinophilic infiltration of any part of the gastrointestinal tract. Clinical presentation is heterogeneous, depending on the site, length and depth of inflammation in the intestinal wall. Allergies and peripheral eosinophilia may be present. Radiographic and endoscopic findings are variable, nonspecific and only contribute to support the diagnosis. Corticosteroids are the mainstay of therapy. Prognosis is good and there is no increased risk of gastrointestinal malignancy.
