Abstract

REDONDO, Isabel et al. Hepatitis B virus infection in patients submitted to immunosupressive therapy or cytotoxic chemotherapy - a case report. J Port Gastrenterol. [online]. 2010, vol.17, n.4, pp.168-171. ISSN 0872-8178.

Reactivation of hepatitis B virus in patients diagnosed with hematological malignancies is a frequent complication of chemotherapy or immunomodulatory therapy. The authors describe the case of a non-Hogkin’s lymphoma patient who had a past history of hepatitis B and developed fulminant hepatitis after chemotherapy. Mechanisms of HBV reactivation are discussed and recommendations are reviewed concerning prophylaxis and preemptive therapy.
