Abstract

KILIMNIK, Zélia Miranda; CASTILHO, Isolda Veloso de  and  SANT´ANNA, Anderson de Souza. Carreiras em transformação e seus paradoxais reflexos nos indivíduos: Metáforas de carreira e de competências. Comport. Organ. Gest. [online]. 2006, vol.12, n.2, pp.257-280. ISSN 0872-9662.

This article analyzes the evolution of career and its several meanings and presents a study performed with professionals on Business Administration, their selfperceptions and aspirations (anchors) of career and the demands according to professional competences. Interviews in depth were made, associated to the utilization of the Inventory of Career Anchors by Edgar Schein, as an initial and exploring stage of a more extensive study. The studied trajectories, and the metaphors and anchors found have revealed themselves examples of current tendencies, like the search for extension of the competences and zigzag careers, characterized by self orientation, confronting several alter-natives and making evident a more proactive attitude. This methodology permitted the deepening of internal issues of the researched subjects, concerning the work and the career, making possible the manifestation of their feelings, anxieties and aspirations, as well as rethink their professional choices and trajectories in a free and creative way.

Keywords : Career; competences; metaphors; trajectories and anchors.
