The emergent movement of positive psychology has grown exponentially since it started in the beginning of the Millennium. It goal is to scientifically study positive emotions, positive character and positive institutions. At the same time, social and human sciences have witnessed the development and consolidation of innovative practices coming from other theoretical backgrounds, such as Appreciative Inquiry, supported in social constructionm, devoted to positive change through a systemic and communicational perspective of organizations. The value of such a positive approach to organizations and workplaces has come to be acknowledged and is deepening and surrounded by new theories and research, what has brought a new language and new concepts such as Positive Organizational Scholarship, Positive Organizational Behavior, and the positive management of psychological capital. This article presents the models of positive psychology and appreciative inquiry, and reviews its recent developments, as well as the applied practices they have given origin, and make explicit the arguments of many authors appealing to their integration and complementary in organizational interventions. It ends by presenting a case-study in the educative institutional environment aimed at the positive organizational development, that embodies in practice the connection between the explored models.
